Meet Our Founder — Dr. Lisa Hsuan
Dr. Lisa Hsuan’s work as a veterinarian has always been driven by patience and compassion. After earning her D.V.M. from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, she worked in nonprofit and private practices, including time at the Los Angeles Zoo and relief work with exotic animals. Along the way, she developed a strong interest in animal behavior and gentle handling, shaping an approach influenced by the Sophia Yin method that focuses on trust, cooperation, and reducing fear for patients.

How Animal Health Care Center Began
Animal Health Care Center began in 2012 through an unexpected opportunity. Dr. Lisa was introduced to a long-standing neighborhood hospital whose owner was preparing to retire and had declined corporate offers in order to keep the practice community based. Their shared values led her to take over the clinic and make thoughtful improvements to the space, creating a calmer, more supportive experience for pets and the people who love them. Today, AHCC remains focused on gentle care, working at each pet’s pace, and offering care options tailored to every family’s needs.
